What riding one alone is actually like
The first ten minutes are the whole story. You leave base in single file at walking pace, the guide watching in his mirrors, and somewhere in the first kilometre the machine stops being a thing you're operating and becomes something you're just doing. After that you spend the ride reading the ground ahead instead of thinking about your hands.
A 250cc automatic has no gears and no clutch. It will sit happily at 25 km/h all afternoon and it will do 60 if you ask, though the tracks rarely give you a reason to. On the loose corners you'll feel the back end move a little — that's normal on hamada, it's why we ride here, and the briefing tells you what to do with it.
What you don't get on a solo quad is someone to talk to. If that matters, take the Quad Duo instead.

|---|---|---|
| 1 hour | Valley loop, first riverbed, viewpoint over the reservoir. Enough to learn the machine and see the plateau. | €35 |
| 2 hours | Out to the ridge and the Berber hamlets with a mint tea stop. The ride where you stop concentrating and start looking. | €56 |
| Half day | Three hours across the far riverbeds and the shepherds' tracks. Physical — you'll feel it in your shoulders. | €77 |

Solo rider questions
I've never driven anything. Can I still take a solo quad?
Yes, and most of our solo riders are in exactly that position. The machine is automatic — twist the throttle to go, squeeze the lever to stop. The briefing covers it in fifteen minutes and you do a practice loop at base before anyone goes anywhere.
Do I have to keep up with the group?
No. The guide sets the pace to the slowest rider, and on a solo quad that could be you. If you want to go faster, tell your guide at the first stop and he'll put you at the front.
Is there a weight limit?
120 kg per machine. Above that we'd put you in a buggy instead, which carries more comfortably.
Can I ride solo if my partner takes a duo?
Yes. Mixed groups are normal — one solo quad and one duo go out together at the same price each, and you ride side by side on the wide sections.
What's the minimum age to drive alone?
16, with a parent present at base to sign. Between 6 and 16 a child rides as a passenger on a Quad Duo instead.
